Babies and Books
Babies as young as three months find pleasure in language. They enjoy being sung to and read to, and they like it when you tell them stories and rhymes. All this is a good basis for their later enjoyment of books.

What you can do to help your baby.

1. Choose picture books that are appropriate for children between 0 – 12 months.
2. Make your voice more animated – use low and high tones as you read.
3. Make faces as you read – scary face, surprised face or happy face.
4. Read out loud and clear – do not rush through the book.
5. Put some excitment into reading – children know when you fake it, they turn off.
