The Idea

Why are fertility rates declining with Mili modern mums?

5 Key Reasons for declining Birth Rates And What You Should Do About It.

  1. Improved Educational Opportunities For Women: As an 80’s baby, I have not known a time women have not being ambitious about their careers and learning opportunities in the part of the world I grew up with. I mean, my mother was a Newscaster for many years and worked really long hours. She also managed to raise 6 beautiful and smart children. The declining birthrates suggest that Modern Mums are rightly going for more educational achievements and opportunities and pushing back the time to wish to become mums.
  2. Lower Child Mortality Rates: With improved health facilities, the rates of child mortality are falling and as a result,  more families are opting to have one or two children.
  3. Better Access To Conception and Family Planning Advice: More families are intentionally planning the number of children they wish to have.
  4. Better Choice: Due to the fast-paced, less community lifestyle modern mums are living, there is less judgement on the path a woman chooses for her.
  5. Environmental Factors: Modern Mums are exposed to increased environmental factors and are consuming less organic foods. Many scientists have argued, it is one of the results of unexplained bareness.

What You Can Do About The Declining Birth Rate If Becoming A Mum is Part of Your Plans.

If becoming a mum is part of your plans, there are a few things you might want to consider to increase your chances of becoming a mum.

  1. Go for regular health checks: You don’t know what you don’t know but a blood test will reveal more about your reproductive age, if you have premature ovarian insufficiency and the changes you are likely to experience as you get older. A regular smear test will also help check the health of your cervix – the opening to your womb from your vagina.
  2. Consider freezing your eggs: Although not the cheapest option to achieve your dreams of becoming a mum, however, it is an option on the table that you can use if you wish to. Embryologists suggest that the best time to freeze your eggs is between the ages of 27 and 33 years old. There are no guarantees that you will have a live baby at a later time and you might need a few rounds of egg harvesting procedures before you are successful.
  3. Check out your fertility options early: Speak with your GP if you believe there is something not quite right and you will be able to see what fertility options are available to you.
