What is childhood development like for Black and Mixed-race children?
The childhood development in a Black or Mixed-race child between the ages of 3 and 6 is unique. This is the first time your child will realise they have a different skin colour and or for girls, their hair is different. Unfortunately, this might also be the first -time, your kids will face racism at school.
As parents of Black or Mixed-race kids, this is the time to pay special attention to what your child is saying and what has been said to your child either at school or at their playgroup. It is also a great time to instill good values that will uphold their self-esteem and help them become more confident.
